Clean North have been one of the UK’s leading breakin crews for performance over the past 15 years. They have performed all over the country from the Royal Albert Theatre, London to St Georges Hall, Bradford. Whether it be for large corporations such as HSBC, Festivals or private parties, Clean North love to perform! The Clean North Crew is made up of 11 Bboys and Bgirls, spanning 3 generations. Across all of these generations you will find a passion for Hip Hop culture, a love for our city and shared core values. Although it’s amazing to perform internationally, some of our best shows have taken place in our home town. This year has been an incredible year for the crew as a whole with more bookings than ever before. Through our shows we have been able to make a difference in so many people’s lives.

Last year Clean North had one of the most important performances to date. After performing for the reopening of St. George’s Hall, Bradford, we had the opportunity to feature in Bradford’s City of Culture 2025 bid video.  Every member of our crew was born and raised here so to be able to feature in such an important video for the city felt amazing!

You can spot the crew at 0:52-0:57 and 1:01-1:05 in Bradford’s City of Culture 2025 bid video below.

The video was launched the morning of the 26th of September. It garnered an amazing response online and was later featured on BBC Look North! On that morning, whilst the City of Culture launch event was taking place in Kala Sangam, Bradford, Clean North were on the way to London to perform at the second launch in the South Bank Centre. The City of Culture bid has the potential to bring huge social and economic benefits to the city so this entire process is a massive deal for the Bradford community. Our hometown has an array of artists that could have been chosen to do this performance. Clean North were chosen for this job and it was truly an honour to be able to represent Bradford at that level! We understood the task at hand and were ready! This was by far one of the most important performances for us as a crew and it’s one we will never forget.

The trip as a whole was amazing! We had three generations representing Bradford in the heart of London. To treat ourselves after the performance, we walked along South Bank and got some frozen yoghurt at a food truck called Snog. It was a surreal moment to be back at that particular spot with the whole crew as it was only 4 years ago when there were just 4 members touring around together. It felt as though all the hard work we had put in over the years had accumulated to that day so what followed was only natural of us as a crew. Snog, the frozen yoghurt truck, provided the music and Clean North ended up performing a second time in London that day!

From earlier events in the year such as Fresh Jive in Leeds, Break Warriors in Derby & Mean Teens in South Shields to the performances from Bradford to London, we represented our hometown in everything that we did last year. This is the Clean North way. We are both a battle and performance crew and we thoroughly enjoyed everything that took place in 2019.

Thank you to everyone who was involved in the opportunities we were given in 2019. Special thank you to The Brick Box Rooms, Bradford Council, The Arts Council England & Kala Sangam. It was an incredible year for Clean North and we are looking forward to seeing what 2020 holds for us!
