Yes Yes! We are back again with another BOTM (Breaker of the Month) and this time it’s non other than the incredible bgirl, representing Clean North…… Bgirl Spider! This has been a long-awaited award for the young bgirl from Bradford.
Bgirl Spider’s skill set and level of training are undeniable and she has constantly improved in various areas of her dance over the last couple of years. Her natural talent and ability for breakin is truly impressive, for her age she has some of the best skills in the country and is one of the best breakers that Bradford has ever seen. Spider is a motivator for many of the young bboys and bgirls she meets, she sets a high bar and this helps to push the level of breakin on the scene but until now she just couldn’t seem to take the BOTM title.
The three main requirements for BOTM in a nut shell are, training hard and showing a consistent pattern of hard work and commitment, showing a significant level of improvement and last but not least is to have the correct characteristics; helping others, supporting your crew, being disciplined and self-reliant. Spider had the first two requirements on lock down but always got caught out on the last requirement.
We are extremely happy to say a new and improved Spider has emerged over the past 6 months, she has displayed a true Hip Hop mentality and has made character adjustments that earned her this title. She has definitely matured and has taken on most of the advice and help that has been given to her by the Clean North crew, which will set her in good stead for the future.
Spider still maintains solid confidence which is great to see in any bboy/bgirl but she is now more patient and helpful with other dancers. She often gives her time to help many of the other breakers learn and she teaches those coming up onto the scene. A lot of people look up to her and she has helped many members of the Solid Rock crew (Bradford’s newest formed crew) gain their skills. You will often find spider helping out at local classes and inspiring the youth of the city.
In all my years of breakin I have met so many bboys/bgirls and every dancer I meet has that inner potential to reach greatness. Whether or not that potential is realised has been down to the individual, many of these dancers have not been natural at breakin. Most of the time the naturally talented dancers I have met have not achieved as much as those who do not share that natural gift. That being said, I have only met a handful of people who were naturally talented and have used their gifting, Spider is one of them. You will never hear Spider complain or see her defeated she is hard as nails. I cannot recall hearing spider moan or having a lazy attitude towards training from the day I have met her and in general, she is pushed harder than most. Spider doesn’t know the words I can’t, she just works until she achieves she is a true bgirl, a warrior.
One of the other main reasons Spider gained this title was due to how well she has been balancing her life and priorities over the past months. She has a lot of things to balance with school and training 4-5 times a week. On top of this Spider also made some other massive personal achievements. She recently used the skills that she gained from breakin and applied them to her new found passion for football. This gained her a place in one of the cities leading football teams, Bradford City Girls, as their star goal keeper. She also plays left wing and has scored a few goals for the team. Only 16 were chosen out of 100+ candidates. Whilst going through the trials for the team, attending football training and playing matches Chloe did not let her breakin slip. She managed things super efficiently and has kept a good balance in order to succeed at both activities (This included reaching the final of two events and winning a crew battle and 2v2 battle). This is an amazing achievement, especially for someone of her age.
We are happy to have her in Clean North and it wouldn’t be the same without her. Congratulations Bgirl Spider! Keep moving forward God Bless.
